Under the Cathedral

Why do I always come up here?
 Open my eyes to find myself staring out
 At the church on the cliff, the monolith
 That makes me want to disappear
 Wandering around is my pastime
 Smoking a cigarette that I thought would feel like mine
 It doesn't
 Do I think I belong here?
 Lots of stone eyes staring back at me
 They know I'm not a god, I'm odd and goofy
 Showing people what they want to see
 But I want to hear you say my name
 I just wanna hear someone say it
 I know to some that might sound lame
 To me, it doesn't
 I don't want to hurt anybody
 But sometimes I wish that I'd get hurt
 I don't want feel any anger
 But sometimes it's the anger that let's you work

 Because it means I could not blame myself

 I want to know that someone wants to help
 Why do you always come up here?
 Sometimes I see you're cell phone glow
 It disappears when I hit the lighter
 But from my hill I see you pacing to and fro
 Walking around like your feet are lead
 I see you thinking that it matters what someone said
 It doesn't

 So I won't, why are you here?
 Do you want to be alone tonight?

 Under the Cathedral outside
 Writing out the sequels to our lives
 It might be a multi-verse of its own
 Where we split up in a million directions
 Until we all come home
