Talking Pictures

Then it was dark, and quiet, like the world had been put to bed
 But I knew after what I'd seen, that I could never go to sleep again
 When the lights go low you see just how alone you are
 As far as I walked, it seemed I hadn't gotten anywhere
 And when I looked behind me, I saw it all fade into the air
 Just the faces, froze, laughing in their pale glow
 So happily comatose, flat like a neon rose
 And now I know things they'll never know
 And I'm going somewhere, somewhere they can't go
 I've seen what, seen what I've got inside
 I've got to take it through to the other side
 She said, "Once you've seen the world changed
 Nothing will ever seem the same again"
 There is something true deep in my mind
 Something I've got to go down and find
 It starts to rain then as I walk
 They're all just pictures that can talk
 Living trapped inside a frame, out here I don't even have a name
 But I know, I know things they'll never know
 And I'm going, going somewhere they can't go
 I've seen what, seen what I've got inside
 I've got to take it through to the other side
 So I keep walking, walking into the unknown
 But I'm so scared, I'm so afraid to go
 Mother find me, mother I'm lost here all alone
 But I know I've got to, got to get there on my own
 I asked the pictures where to go, they stared back at me like stones
 Warm like bodies but so cold, so full of veins but got no roll
 A world of strangers staring back, still plugged in, but can't
 Connect If you can't see me, am I even here?
 If you turned me off, would I disappear?
 I wish I could stay, but I've played this game
 Where every single day is the same
 It's so hard to walk on, by yourself
 Through the paragons of nothingness
