Kings & Queens

All my life i've been trying to go nowhere fast.
 I look outside and watch the world go by.
 But as I look I wonder 'has all this really passed?' And would I still be here the day I die? Do I really wanna kiss my life goodbye?'
 It's been the same old pattern.
 The life of a fool
 It's not that good but things could be much worse
 When someone told me lately the one and only rule
 It's up to me to change my future first
 Get up and go find out what it's worth
 The kings and queens look back at me
 But what I need are aces in between
 The kings and queens are safe and sound
 But they won't help me turn my life around
 Only I can turn my life around
 Sometimes the old went flying and in came the new
 I opened many doors to take a chance
 Cowardly I came to senses and never followed through
 I always stopped and stayed right where I am
 But now I know the world is in my hands
 The kings and queens look back at me
 But what I need are aces in between
 The kings and queens are safe and sound
 But they won't help me turn my life around
 Only I can turn my life around
 The place where I feel safe will be always in my mind
 But to appreciate it all I'll have to leave that place behind
 I'm gonna open up my soul like I've never done before
 And even if I'm gonna fail
 I'll be gaining so much more
