Change

When I woke up yesterday the sun was bright
 The colors faded in from a white light
 The ceiling lit up with astonished eyes
 That stared at me as I walked outside
 No one knows what's waiting up ahead
 Each one of us just goes where we are led
 Just like a child that's tightly holding on
 To her father's hand as she walks along
 Sometimes things just have to change
 Forever we just drift away
 Sometimes it's hard to remember where you are
 When you've been lost before the truth just seems so far
 But poets always knew this so they're fine
 They find the truth and write it down each line
 I guess that's why I'm writing on my sleeve
 The only bible that I would believe
 Is one that said that God is just a boy
 The city streets and all of us are toys
 Sometimes things just have to change
 Forever we just drift away
 I'll probably meet a girl who suits me fine
 On our first date she'll get dressed up and be polite
 We'll talk about the things that people do
 The past and all the shit that we've been through
 Remember all the times I made you cry?
 But you couldn't say that I never tried.
 Remember all you can and so will I
 Memories can live and never die.
 Sometimes things just have to change
