Here we are
 Trying to break each other's hearts

 We've succeeded so far
 But then there's the next part
 When one of us shows her cards
 Altogether ends the game
 And becomes the queen of bleeding hearts

 Since you don't see
 Ships that pass each other
 In the night
 Are the same as boats lost out to sea

 See if we can beat
 This pattern and routine
 Even the TV makes love
 Into a game
 Only the faces always change
 It will take a stack of decks
 Before they run out, I guess
 But if you hardly ever win at solitaire
 Why do we always play?
