Blessed are the Poor

Trapped in an unjust world where the powerful prosper
 Found wanting, I'm found alone, I got nothing to offer
 Then came a teacher so upside down, bringing more than religion
 Saying the first are last, the least are the greatest
 He told me to rejoice and be glad
 Blessed are the poor in spirit
 They shall inherit the kingdom of Heaven

 Blessed are the ones who hunger and
 thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied
 Filled with life
 He came and he healed my eyes, gave me a vision
 A broken and twisted soul, started mending and dancing
 He took on my hopeless heart, showed me restoration
 Raising the dead to life, to life everlasting
 How can I not rejoice and be glad
 Blessed are the poor in spirit
