A Tree in the Park

light shines through my window at 6 AM
 begins again
 no dream in my heart
 let me sleep in until when
 i can rise up feeling my life anew
 i've got a thought right now if you don't mind me mentioning to you
 since springtime i told myself
 this summer this is the big one
 it's fall and I feel I've let it all slip
 i took a little walk to find a tree in the park
 and when I found a spot I went to take apart
 every cloudy thought to dig in deep into my heart
 to take these words and call them art
 i found it there right on a bench in the shade
 i thought about before and all the things that we made
 to all the promises and all the words that i never forgave
 light shines through my window
 i'm wide awake
 i feel it's all a big mistake spending all of my time dreaming
 i'll tell you i've failed you
 no you'll tell me that i'm conceited
 i tell you
 i miss the time before i felt so defeated
 you told me my greatest strength is to be self evaluated
 that no one can see the world like I want to see
 i took a look inside with every feeling laid
 i thought about before and all the things that we made
 to all the promises and all the words that I never forgave
 i know I need to change
