When Anne Marie told the story about
 Whatever went down when they went down south
 I think she left a couple key parts out
 Some things she didn't wanna say
 Abilene wasn't what she said
 They never went to see some family friends
 Those people weren't even relatives

 Once it's done, it just becomes the dust and the crumbs
 Shake it up enough, it's gonna blow right up
 Some sinners don't get saved
 Build it up too high then it starts to tip
 Tug on it enough and then it starts to rip
 Push it at the signal 'til the speakers clip
 That's Anne Marie and Shane
 Anne Marie loves Shane so much
 But sometimes Shane can get a little rough
 She thinks it's just the way they brought him up
 Some things he don't wanna say
 Weekend nights when they went to the well
 Sunday mornings shaking off the spells
 A sticky center and a hardened shell
 A couple months in the same hotel
 If you twist it hard enough, it falls apart
 Once it's done, it just becomes the crumbs and dust
 If you're gonna start tonight, the cops gonna come
 I know you're not that brave
 Turn it up and dry it 'til it starts to fade
 Everybody's family 'til they don't get paid
 Slide around a bit, you know you'll probably slip
 Anne Marie is dancing while Shane gets pissed
 Taunted by the things they can never afford
 Up and down the aisles at the liquor store
 Their bodies slump over while their spirits soar
 That's how the legends get made
 Anne Marie came back on a bus on her own
 Moved into the basement of her step-father's home
 If I were you, I wouldn't even ask about Shane
