I'll sit down with my mind
 Over a glass or two to see if I can find

 Said she wasn't ready for another relationship so soon
 Which is fair enough and asked if we could just be friends
 I dismissed initially, I didn't want to mask my feelings
 Everything I would be feeling was pretend
 If its time she wants, well that's cool
 I'm in this for the long haul
 Dnd eventually time together we can spend
 Maybe she could learn to love me again

 Our lives are slightly settled now, but not boring
 She was at uni before and I was always touring
 And then you got a boyfriend which was highly annoying
 And if I seemed off, I was mourning what I'd lost
 Pathetic I know, but you seem to have a knack
 Of making me act in a way that I've got no control
 Do you think that you could love me again?

 I know the answer's no
 Yet I'll wait 'til I get shot down
 Why is it that I always want the things I know that I can't have?
 Am i to live a life that's me, myself, alone
