Like the Rain

There's a child who never sleeps in my old town
 She looks around her with empty eyes that never cry
 Her mother never holds her like the wind does
 And her father never loved her like the rain does

 Her legs run through mountains at the dusk
 And the grass knows exactly her body when she lies and falls asleep

 They stay staring at her closed pupils

 I never had the wonderful opportunity to meet her
 But her smile was always telling me that we already know each other

 I never saw her again since I left town
 Somebody's told me that she finally got wings and that she flies
