When I Felt Giving

Looking down at what I've lost
 And what I'm not receiving
 The sun shines down upon
 All I've ever given
 But I can't even find an ounce
 Left to remember
 What it was I felt when I felt giving
 I tried to give you something
 But I took it instead
 Something I didn't want or
 Even know that I had
 And I guess you'll find it easy enough
 To feel you've lost the fight
 When you've always been a sinkhole for love
 And a vacuum for light
 I have watched you
 Face in every direction but this way
 And I have watched your flame burn
 Every bridge but
 The one that leads right here
 Like a bat in a tree camouflaged like a leaf
 From the floor to the stage I was the only one watching
