Well I was born in 53
 My daddy was a factory man
 Nearly all his life giving everything he can
 I'd seen the good and I'd seen the bad
 Even though I was quite young
 I couldn't get what he'd been through
 Till my own family was begun
 No one cares if you live or die
 What you do when you don't have
 This whole world's become money ran
 A heartless, greedy land
 Even though I am quite proud
 Of being an American Man
 Tell me what the hell went wrong

 And cheated from this land

 And started reading our front page
 A hundred ninety six men in my hometown
 They all laid off before the Christmas Day
 It seems the jobs had been given away
 To foreign countries
 Where the wages are lower than a middle class man
 So we all live in poverty
 No one cares if you live or die
 What you do when you don't have
