 A cold wind blows off the sea
 Through the trees and into the L.A. skyline
 A fault line prances
 The darkness dances and disturbs my dream
 This night falls far too short and now I can't sleep
 This night is far from over and I don't want to sleep
 I lie and embrace the dark
 I'm finding it hard to await the morning sunrise and face the day
 Adifferent way
 And I don't want to stay
 This night will last forever in the back of my mind
 This night compels my spirit to face the light

 Sunshine breaks through my window
 On my pillow
 I can see the far side of my room
 A picture or two of what used to be you
 In a thousand pieces
 Last night seemed like forever only longer
 Last night now seems like a dream only stronger
 Sometimes I fear the nighttime
 I try to fight it
 I'd be fine if you were here with me
 To put me to sleep
 And to keep me at peace with my inner self
 Last night, for thirty seconds I prepared to die
 Last night is far from over
 Can I put my life back again? ...back again? ...back again?

 In the nighttime I'm awakened frightened that another may come
 Sometimes I'm surprised I sleep at all
 Shaken by anything that moves or even makes a sound
 Paranoia soon to be my one true friend
 Searching for tranquility, insistently, I find an answer in the kitchen under all the broken glass
 That damn fault line has taken everyone and everything I own
 Before I had nothing now I have even less
