Cowboy Dream

Caught up in this cowboy dream
 Ride through sunset to Wyoming
 I made good time across the high plains
 Stumble in a tavern for my whistle to wet
 There's men in the corner making their bets
 It's a different town but it sure looks the same
 Oh, but if I was a cowboy
 You wouldn't blame me
 For acting this ole way
 You'd never have to wonder
 Why you couldn't get me to stay
 Playing in these crowded bars
 It's cheap cigarettes and high dollar guitars
 When the music dies I'm all alone
 These women of the road are good for a night
 They hold me close and I feel alright
 But when they wake up I'll be long gone
 Oh, but if I was a cowboy
 You wouldn't blame me
 For acting this ole way
 You'd never have to wonder
 Why you couldn't get me to stay
 Freedom has always been my drive
 Now I'm sitting here on the other side
 Holding it all in the palm of hand
 Wondering if it's what I need
 Cause the choices I've made and the life I lead
 Have left me blowing like the desert sand
