Meant To Be

When I was a kid
 there were movies I'd make in my mind
 Visions so realistic
 I'd get all worked up til I'd cry
 Who would I be and what would I be like
 Me as the singer with my pretty wife
 I could sing with a hero
 I'd lay down my life
 just to have their wanted soul so bad
 I believe what's meant to be
 is meant to be
 and that's just how it goes
 I've been searching for what I need
 I believe when I find it I'll know
 I was 18, my very first month
 away from home
 Then I caught your attention
 when you heard me sing that first note
 Now I would be lying if I didn't say
 that I saw you coming a mile away
 I fell in love with you that very day
 just to have that I wanted so bad
 I believe what's meant to be
 is meant to be
 and that's just how it goes
 I've been searching for what I need
 I believe when I find it I'll know
 Now I can't say I'm happy
 with all of the choices I've made
 I've been chewed up and spit out
 seen sorrow I'll take to my grave
 There were some months when
 the rent came up short
 and some of my family's not here anymore
