A New Mission

Sometimes I can't control a feeling that I get inside my chest
 Even with those who are close to me, the ones I call my best
 I lose sight of all my confidence, in a heavy single step
 It's happened ever since my childhood, things I thought I'd put to rest
 I can keep my mind intact by getting on with a new mission
 I can push myself, having heavy ammunition
 When something gets me down, for a second I'm distracted
 I look back amongst the lights I consequently lit my path with
 
 And safety's in the sights of looking forwards
 Don't look down, these heights are dizzying the explorers
 Before the job is all but finished, when then my focus goes to blur
 It's hard to pull my eyes away from the blobs and colored pearls
 Da-n-da mmm de doo
 Ra ba da bum-bay ya-doo
 Blinders I can give myself, like horses wear to race
 And show them that my focus point is standing in the fireplace
 Remind yourself in giving you should not expect to take
 It will only make you bitter and what's good will go to waste
 The slightest realignments and my legs will fall beneath me
 I've not even come to clock it and I'm facedown in my feelings
 Thinking, "Where on earth am I? Where did my companions leave me?"
 Selfish, detrimental life can always be appealing
 
 And safety's in the sights of looking forwards
 Don't look down, these heights are dizzying the explorers
 The only tactic that I'm sure of that can keep my chest at peace
 Is to constantly perform, provide the warmth, provide the feast
 I start planting like a madman, laying lights in the wrong places
 People are not worth the other ones you share your space with
