Earlysville

For days, I haven't been alive in any meaningful sense of the word
 I left behind my heartless crime and now the center lines have blurred
 I'm driving east to try to stop the beast before it's ever even born
 Better late then never when there's nothing left to mourn
 But going back's a simple act of will
 And I believe I'll do it by and by
 In Earlysville
 I heard about it from a frequent flyer over generation gap
 Who clued me in to a little town that wasn't printed on my map
 Said, "You don't have to deal in second guesses even though the die be cast
 If you know of a place to go where you can get behind the past
 Where yesterday's a simple act of will"
 And I believe I'll get there by and by
 In Earlysville
 With every sign that whispers by to tell me that I am closing in
 The hot regret of every ice cold sweat's evaporating off my skin
 And could it be that when you're bad, you're lost, and when you're lost, it's not for good

 That going back's a simple act of will
