In the shadow forest that is crouching near the lake
 My love and I went walking and the hour it was late
 The crickets started moaning and the lightning bugs turned black
 And in that flash of darkness well she stabbed me in the back

 She wore her winter stockings but she did not make a sound
 As we were decending there were snowflakes in the air
 They landed and they melted on the furnace of her hair
