The Darkness Between the Stars

Did you wave before you turned?
 Did that smile you wore break?
 All the foxgloves turn to light
 As you cry
 The crows of Jupiter
 Behind old time they see you

 What kind of question is the worst?
 A dull-edged knife cuts close to the heart
 As oceans, as the clouds
 You fear nothing but calm
 Below the fungi of this wretched surface

 Bare their thighs
 Into this womb you hide
 and fire burns the earth

 Is not that you are present
