Blue and Pink

I've dragged this out
 As long as I can take
 Guilty of promises I know
 That I can't keep
 As I drift off back to sleep
 So close that door
 I'll bang my head against the wall
 Bitter and defeated
 Broken-hearted plans
 To get through anything tonight
 The sun goes down and
 Fades into blue and pink shadows
 Growing older with everyday
 I look to let go
 Searching for a meaning
 With each passing season
 Try to take a walk
 To gather up my thoughts
 But every dog on this street
 Seems to hate me
 And I'll drive through
 The hills at night
 Looking at the homes that I
 Will never be able to afford
 This old suburban fantasy
 It's ruining me
 Sometimes
 I want the palm trees
 To lean so far that they break
 And crush me
 The sun goes down and
 Fades into blue and pink shadows
 Growing older with
 Every day
 I learn to let go
