The Way Life Goes

Yeah. You know this is one of those
 songs that just touches your hearts
 were all breathing we all have
 feelings I was a little baby girl
 growing up in the hood where gang
 banging was official but I
 understood the way of life that
 some of us seen gang violence drug
 addicts and broken dreams
 confused on what to do, not
 thinking of the future distracted in
 class and cussing out my teacher
 fighting all the time disappointing
 my parents cussing me out in
 Spanish but I wasn't trying to hear it
 I know they meant well they want
 the best for me but I remained as the
 baddest kept on roaming the streets.
 My sisters soon followed ended up
 in the halls my dad all ashamed
 thinking I was the cause. My mom
 was in tears praying every day
 wondering where she failed for us
 to turn out this way her daughters
 were bad and the family was talking
 but that's the life we chose and
 there was no stopping. That's how
 life goes you gotta live with the
 choices you make cuz that's how
 life goes we all make mistakes. as
 the time went by things didn't
 improve situations we faced got us
 kicked out of school continuation
 came next with babies on the way
 no support from the daddy's they
 were gone the next day that was the
 first time that I've seen my father
 cry I felt so bad like I wanted to die
 he blamed my mother for not
 watching us well but it wasn't her
 fault she was living in hell from that
 point on our lives just changed we
 had responsibilities with no one to
 blame collecting from the county
 just to make ends meet sometimes
 I had a lot on mind I would lack
 sleep I kept my hopes up and build
 up my strength for a young brown
 chicana I had to watch my steps
 this world was corrupted I was
 easily distracted temptations in life
 kept my bad ways active. That's
 how life goes you gotta live with the
 choices you make cuz that's how
 life goes we all make mistakes even
 though life is hard just keep your
 head held high leave all of that
 behind you can always change and
 make it through hard times if you
 just stay strong you'll never go
 wrong just move on. Times were
 hard I kept my head up high I had
 rude awakenings that opened up
 my eyes I had to do something with
 my life cut off the back stabbers that
 wasted my time. Depended on
 myself made positive moves
 connected with the right people to
 lead the fools I got my family and
 my solid ass friends they know who
 they are much love to all of them.
 That's how life goes you gotta live
 with the choices you make cuz
 that's how life goes we all make
 mistakes now here's a piece of my
 heart for all of you that can relate
 and has lived a life that most of us
 have our life style emotions life
 itself
