An Ode to Solitude

This place is everything
 All I ever longed for
 Peaceful in its isolation
 No sign of human life
 An existence so serene
 Alone at one with nature
 Yet some nights my mind goes wandering
 And thoughts conspire to bring me down
 All these years that I forced myself to live in denial
 To forget the past
 The pains and tribulations I have had to endure
 Yet some things are not easily forgotten
 Have I given myself to this state of being
 Or is there something out there for me still
 Can I reclaim the life I lost
 Seek a new beginning
 Before I am consumed by memories
 And grow old in a place such as this
 Desolate, yet simple in its beauty
 Though I think often I might lose my mind
 If I stay here for the rest of my days
