Timebird

A kid I know got frozen
 Making angels in the snow
 They pulled her out and burried her
 As if she'd died in prayer
 The funeral was fitting
 There was nobody there
 Now if teacher's burned your walking shoes
 Then barefoot you must go
 Oh when the timebird's landed
 When the timebird comes
 Baby put away your sorrows

 They will just be white lies
 Out where the timebird flies
 If I could only whisper
 I would pinch my voice and sing
 Just to blow it like a kettle
 As it slowly burns to clay
 I dreamed a black-eyed dog who tried

 Now the window softly shimmers
 At the rattlin' of a wing

 They will just be fireflies
