Put Your Slippers on Instead

You may find that the world is harsh and cold
 But you don't have to hold your tongue or do just what you're told
 Or you may feel weak, worried, or lonesome
 Like the whole world is caving in and you may not overcome
 But when you get back from looking out or looking in
 Even the summer sweats around you
 Relax your body parts and take the path less marked
 Let the pull and push surround you
 A leap of faith or a jump over mankind
 Push with quiet force the non-believers will be left behind
 A general rule get treated as you would like to treat
 And soon the tides will change the decision is at your feet
 Put your slippers on instead and live forever
