Zombies

I was alone outside of camp, scavenging for sealed-up cans
 City waste, open space, everything falsely secure
 There were black leaves in the
 trees. No time to think what it all means
 Cuz all I've learned is once you're
 bit, the fever hits, there is no cure
 Walking back, I saw the flames
 Familiar sight I've seen before
 People bitten, left for dead,
 So I went in and tried to find her
 All the bags were gone, no survivors...
 I tried to save them (but I can't help them)
 Got to keep moving (or we'll walk the same)
 Wish I could change it (but I can't help it)
 Go to let go and move on, things will never stay
 Ru- run to the hills
 Cause if you stop, you will get killed
 No time to waste,
 fill the space between what's happened and what's next
 I heard a screaming through the breeze
 I felt a shaking in my knees

 And so I quickly ran up, knelt beside her
 Gasping for air, she was a fighter
