Sunshine Dust

One hand casts the shadow
 One hand holds the flame
 I can hear it coming
 But I don't hold fear and pain
 An echo in the distance
 That familiar empty space
 Turning from the light I step into my shade
 So I believe somehow
 If I step closer to the fear and doubt
 That I'll grow further
 I will not remain in light
 And I'll grow scars that elevate the mind
 Now I believe
 I know
 I've grown conscious in this space
 But I could reset further
 I can not remain in light
 So I go far enough away
 And fight
 I feel the stillness coming
 I am but form in place
 The world I know soon ending
 This is the only way
 And still I wait
 To illuminate my fate
 The ruins descend upon me
 To spare me from the pain
 Will you pray for me as I fight through the rain
 I can hardly see but I'll carry on
 I don't want to die
 I don't want to wander
 I've been cast aside
 As I hope for the sun

 One hand traces a line
 Both hands bleed
 I'm alight
 My shade cast is my guide
 I'm breathing but inside
 I'm chained to my darkness
 I know this is my fight
 I'll change
 I will grow
 I will make myself want life
 I'll become the daylight
 I've awakened now
 So I believe somehow
 If I step closer to the fear and doubt
 That I'll grow further
 I will not remain in light
 And I'll grow scars that elevate the mind
 Now I believe
 I know
 I've grown conscious in this space
 But I could reset further
 I can not remain in light
 So I go far enough away
 I've been lost here
 I've been free
 The slave
 I've been the follower
 Who could lead but chose to be here now
 I will shout my name and find peace with my soul in hand
 I will scream here for the hope I gave
 My distress bare from my will the blade
 I'll reach out
 I will hold that blade and carve my name in stone then I'll die.
 I really want to believe somehow
