Can I stay here for a while Landlady
 Just a corner of the room
 A blanket and a curfew
 And I'll be light when I'm out
 I'll be quiet as a mouse
 Town and country
 But if I stay too long
 Or if I'm of and on
 The combinations wrong
 So I've tried in my way
 To break what I am bound to
 But their are chains and their are ties
 I just never got around to
 And it's fine sometimes to leave it all behind
 And start it over
 But when it's said and done
 No matter where you run
 You're gonna owe someone
 Landlady
 So I try to keep it light
 Keep my mind off of winter
 But it's few and far between
 When I make gold from tin and timber
 But give me a little time and I can straighten out
