Absinthe Friends

If you ever see me drinking... when I'm on my own
 Don't assume that I am lonely... 'cause I'm not on my own
 I've got all my friends with me,
 They're talking, keeping me company
 Hiding in the places that you can't see
 But I hear them so clearly
 You think I'm mad? Well, look at yourself!
 Whenever you need a friend, you rely on someone else
 All the friends I need are here with me
 They may be are inside my head
 But at least they never leave!
 Sometimes I think they talk too much
 Saying the things that make me feel out of touch
 So I'll have another bear
 And it's suddenly clear!
 It's me, not the drink that controls what I think
 If you ever see me drinking, when I am on my own
 Don't assume that I am lonely, 'cause I am not alone
 People say that it's the drink talking
 But I don't believe that that's true
 The only time I will have a drink
 Is when those voices tell me to
 People often say that you should drink in moderation
 But when has that ever led to intellectual conversation?
 I shall have a proper drink with all the friends I've got
 So when you break it down like that,
 I guess I don't drink a lot!
 Sometimes I think they talk too much
 Drinking 'till it make me feel out of touch
 So I'll have another beer
 And it's suddenly clear!

 It hadn't always been this way, 'cause I used to be quite sober!
 Sticking to the orange juice, lemonade and cherry cola
 Then my friends showed me, life could be more fun
 When they introduced me to the beer, the absinthe, the rum
 Sometimes I think they talk too much
 Drinking 'till it make me feel out of touch
 So I'll have another bear
