Less Than Zero

Am I product of my generation so bored and confused?
 Lacking motivation in everything I'm expected to do
 But when she doesn't show me any love
 I start to wonder what I am made of Less than zero
 Looking through the want ads with the hopes I can appease her
 Living paycheck to paycheck isn't her idea of a future
 But when she doesn't show me any love

 She keeps telling me I'm so impractical leaving us without stability
 But when I see some dumb kids come along
 Making a living writing stupid songs
 Well?
 Everybody wants to get a piece of the action
 But there isn't enough to go around
 It brings me back to square one and now I really feel like such a bum
 Less than zero...
