Suddenly Cool

Do you remember when she'd follow us around
 With stars in her eyes all over the town?
 Showing up at every place went pretending like it was an accident?
 I thought she was pretty lame
 And when I tried to figure out her stupid game
 Soon enough I would find what was really on her mind
 Attempts to climb the social ladder
 But nobody was paying much attention
 Trying too hard with things that hardly mattered
 And was somewhat embarrassing
 She moved to Ukrainian village a few months ago
 And started hanging out at the Fireside Bowl
 With a new look and attitude that went against everything I once knew
 I thought I would push aside any problems I had
 Giving benefit of the doubt in such a short time much had changed
 Suddenly I was the odd man out
 I must admit I was a bit surprised taken aback
 To be greeted with a roll of the eyes and a condescending laugh
 You must be kidding me?
 When did you become suddenly cool? I saw you last year
 And you were such a tool
 Dyed your hair black bought horned rimmed glasses to match
 And a whole new circle of friends suddenly cool
 I felt like I was back in third grade
 In a playground all the hipsters made
 Obeying ever rule of the punk rock handbook
 Drinking Pabst, the Betty Paige look
 You should've heard her try to speak
 If you weren't the flavor of the week
 Bored and above it all leaning up against the wall
 I was hoping that I would be wrong that you did some growing up
 But it just confirmed what I suspected all along in all it's absurdity
 When did you become suddenly cool?
