The Midnight Star

Cradle this last remaining flicker of a once auspicious night
 While the city glow gives in bestow
 This last honor on us relentless and deplorable
 This faint desires for life laid bare right before your eyes
 To alleviate what sorrows still lie hidden deep in half light
 In our name dimly rise into the nearing day
 Therefore the moon held a funeral march across the sky
 Come eventide
 There shall be nothing left of us
 By virtue of vast cities drear
 Oh so empyrean we'll soar
 Thence impervious and divine
 To journey onward, to get lost aloft

 When we saw with wistful eyes that joy had become tribulation
 Then we rejoiced for unto each of us a star was to be born
 Dimday was to fall and the pale orb would lead the way
 For us to twinkle in the dark, to be wanderers eternally
