Flowers in Decay

We were lying in the shade
 Surrounded by these flowers in decay
 As we counted down the hours in the day
 Till the sun set behind us in a blaze
 And the vibrance of the sky began to fade
 I was a coward never brave
 All the words that i would never say
 Because i thought that saying them would make it harder to embrace
 That, this wouldn't last, it was just a fleeting moment
 We'd enjoy until it passed, till our lives continued flowing
 Into separate tributaries that would never meet again
 I know life gets really scary, if you ever need a friend
 Just know my line is always open, send me a DM
 And if you're finding yourself hopeless, you can vent to me again
 The way you used to, when we'd stay up late into the night
 Discussing things we found amazing or complaining about life
 And either way we were alright, we had each other's company
 I never really needed anybody else to comfort me
 Yeah, but nothing lasts forever
 As far as friends go, don't think i could've asked for better
 Eventually I'll become a name you can't remember
 But i def won't forget the day that we were last together
