Christmas time, a year ago
 I'd just been let go
 and the roof was leaking, rent was due

 Daddy had his heart attack
 We spent Christmas Eve in a waiting room
 I guess we've been running low on Christmas Cheer
 But all that is changing this year

 Daddy's never looked better
 He's got a brand-new sweatshirt
 That says Kiss Me, I'm a new Grandpa
 And you'd never know money's tight
 Watching my honey strong Christmas lights
 And sing along to "Deck the Halls"
 Aunt Cathy and Uncle Joe are putting tinsel on the tree
 They came all the way from Texas just to see
 Out little miracle sleeping down the hall
