Against the War

Well the war drum's bangin'
 And the flags are waving
 Everything is so complicated
 The new thing is a deadly invasion
 With innocents dyin' and the death toll risin'
 The whole thing is fucking horrible
 Yet somehow painted as inevitable
 With cities flattened and people fleeing
 Lies are being told like they are something to believe in
 And now I'm sitting in your car
 Watching war crimes on my phone
 Wondering when they'll send in the drones
 I'm not sure if there's good guys
 And bad guys anymore
 Who's gettin' paid and who they're rooting for
 I stand with the victims
 Whoever they are
 And I'm against the war
 And it feels like no-one's even talking about peace
 And pretty soon the narrative shifts
 The news fades on the people who are suffering, and
 Ramps up on the weapons we are gathering
 The whole thing is fucking horrible
 Yeah, someone is benefiting from it all
 That is probably worth considering
 That it's a fine day for Lockheed Martin
 And now I'm on my laptop
 Watchin' nuclear bombs explode
 Learnin' all about the fallout zones
 Not sure if this invasion
 Is now a proxy war
 That feeds the rich on the blood of the poor
 I stand with the victims
 Wherever they are
 And I'm against the war
 Against killing and against invading
 Against doubling military spending
 Boots on the ground and drones in the sky, yeah
 Against corruption and media lies
 Against anyone who profits from death
 Against the military industrial complex
 The end is either diplomatic
 Or the destruction of the whole entire planet
 Peace is what I'm standing for
 And I'm against the war
