The Gate of Eternity

Wandering among the shades of night
 My friends at peace but still in sight
 Hear their muted laughter in dusted dew
 The only youth we ever knew
 A restless sea the source to know
 How often vainly sought in things below
 The crown of pride that killed each mortal brow
 Oh heavens and earth they're falling now
 Oh let me shut my eyes close out
 Oh Lord vanish the angering doubt
 Through the raging tears in my heart declare
 And these stormy clouds they are everywhere

 The evening flies on ruptured wings
 The hours of delight that once they bring
 In agony so far away
 For every past as well as future day
 In fragrant fear of deep regret
 How do I strain and shall forget
 And clouded scenes with treacherous skies
 My maddening brain has reached the lies
 Yet still the static leaks of an untuned radio
 Nobody hears me now I am ceased where can I go
 Storm lifted waves shift rushing to the open shore
 Back through the darkest cave you can hear the thunders roar
 Can't find it now
 Just show me how
 I wonder why
 Just let me die.
