As I came home that night
 The house didn't show no light
 All the things running through my brain
 And I could barely see through that rain
 That front door hung open wide
 But there was nothing but the dark inside
 I turned to head to the car
 When I realized you couldn't have got far

 Never knew the night could be so black
 With my mind in a haze and my stomach in knots
 Everything inside was beginning to rot
 That goddamn radio was playing that song
 And everything had all gone wrong
 You're gone
 I took the only road from home
 That needle climbing as the engine moaned
 I finally see your taillights ahead
 And that needle she's reaching red
 I pulled into the other lane
 I could see his face through the rain
 When it hit me my heart had sunk
 You were probably tied up in the trunk
 I tried to get ahead and block the road
