X-ray

One day I had time to spare
 I was alone, but had I known
 What is meant by looking deep inside yourself
 I'd have done that instead
 I remembered a book I'd read some time ago
 The book said with x-rays I could see below
 The book said within
 Bones are under your skin
 From the tips of your toes to the point of your chin
 But I'd never dreamt I had those...
 I suppose that I most likely have a brain
 Useful but plain
 It can't look like yours
 Because its dark inside my head
 How is it that lonely walks after dusk
 'Cause both our memories to fly?
 I used to believe that everybody but me
 Was a conscious bag full of blood
 I guess I am too since I look like you do...
 So I thought this over with my eyes in gaze
 Head in space
 I imagined all the slimy crap inside of me
 We'll both likely get sick if we eat some mud
 But I still refuse to believe
 That we are transparent
 How can I compare our heads
 If I'm not sure you're alive
 Like me?
